So, here’s a thought—how many of us actually know exactly what we’re doing with our lives? Because if I’m being honest, I feel like I’m just figuring things out as I go. And from the conversations I’ve had, that seems to be the case for a lot of people.
I used to think that by the time I hit my 20s, I’d have a clear path, a perfect plan, and everything set in motion. But instead, I’m realizing that life is way more about adjusting, experimenting, and pivoting than it is about having a straight path from Point A to Point B.
1. Everyone’s Figuring It Out (Even the "Successful" Ones)
You ever notice how people who seem like they have it all together are still making changes, shifting goals, and trying new things? The truth is, even the most successful people are still learning, evolving, and figuring things out as they go.
The difference? They’re just comfortable with uncertainty—they take action even when they don’t have everything perfectly mapped out.
2. Trying Different Things Isn’t Wasting Time
There’s this pressure to pick one thing and stick to it forever. But honestly? That’s just not how life works. The more things you try, the better you understand what actually excites you, what drains you, and what’s worth pursuing.
Some things might just be for fun, some might turn into side hustles, and others might be the thing you didn’t even realize you were meant to do. But you won’t know until you try.
3. You Can’t Fail at Something That’s an Experiment
One of the best mindset shifts I’ve made is thinking of life as a series of experiments rather than a pass/fail test. If something doesn’t work out, cool—you learned something. Move on, tweak the approach, or try something else.
The point isn’t to never mess up, it’s to keep moving forward.
4. What I’m Doing Right Now (And Why I’m Cool With It)
Right now, I’m in this weird but exciting phase where I’m juggling different things—figuring out my career, exploring side projects, personal finance, technology, travel, and just sharing what I learn along the way.
Will everything I try work out? Maybe, maybe not. But I’d rather test things out than sit around waiting for the perfect plan to magically appear.
Final Thought: Just Start
If you’re stuck in overthinking mode, take this as a sign to just start something. It doesn’t have to be perfect or make sense right away—just start. Experiment. Adjust. See where it takes you.
And if you’re also in this phase of “figuring things out,” let me know what you’re working on. Let’s swap ideas and keep learning together.
"The point isn’t to never mess up, it’s to keep moving forward". I thought I had everything perfectly planned out too. I left no room for error in my plans. This applied to my career and a business I tried to start. I got so frustrated. If life has taught me anything so far it's to go with the flow. I needed to allow myself to learn from what I now call "deviations". I learned it's okay to be unsure of what I want. I'm working on putting myself out there again, revamping my business idea and finding my love for writing poetry again. For once I'll choose to say "we'll see" and enjoy the ride.
